A new year is on the horizon — are your nails ready? Take a cue from Selena Gomez and kick off 2023 on the right foot … or is it hand?
If you’re looking for New Year’s Eve nail inspo, look no further than the Only Murders in the Building star’s latest manicure. Gomez’s manicurist, Tom Bachik, shared a snapshot of her gorgeous shimmery jade green mani, which Gomez wore with a matching cocktail ring and an icy silver dress. Her nails were shaped into short squovals, then painted with a multifaceted frosty teal color that would work perfectly for a holiday celebration, the ball drop or just a regular Tuesday.
Bachik, who also works with Jennifer Lopez and Hailee Steinfeld, often creates surprising and fun manicures for Gomez. In early December, the Rare Beauty founder rocked a multicolored pastel mani in shades of sky blue, lavender and mint green. The duo threw all nail rules out the window when they opted for a bright sunset yellow instead of a more traditional darker fall shade, and that cheerful daffodil color wasn’t the first time they’d experimented with yellow, either; in late August, Bachik and Gomez tried out a sunny pastel lemon on a longer length squoval nail.
Bachik didn’t share details on Gomez’s exact turquoise shade, but there are plenty of similar colors to get a Gomez-worthy mani. OPI Nail Lacquer in This Color’s Making Waves, described as a “shimmery lagoon blue,” would fit the bill, as would ILNP’s No Days Off, a stunning holographic teal glitter. China Glaze’s Turned Up Turquoise is a neon twist on the shade with a matte finish; if you prefer a cream formula, you could try Essie’s Garden Variety, for a similar vibe. It’s a super fun and unexpected way to mix up the more traditional New Year’s Eve colors like sparkly silver, deep navy, bright red or black, ensuring that you and your nails stand out as the ball drops.
