Jennifer Lopez has been embracing the undone updo lately. While the star is known for her signature super-sleek buns and ponytails, she’s leaned into the carefree, effortless vibes of the sunny season with her recent red carpet looks, including the undone bun she wore at the 2024 Met Gala and the sleek-but-unraveling updo from the Los Angeles premiere of her new movie Atlas. For an event in Mexico City promoting said film, Lopez really let her hair down … but she didn’t … but she did.
The actor and musician went full boho-chic in a ruffled white Chloé gown and messy French twist updo courtesy hairstylist Jesus Guerrero. Lopez’s caramel brown hair was loosely pulled up and twisted at the crown of her head in a traditional French twist, but much softer and more casual than the traditionally pristine, every-hair-in-place updo style. Guerrero kept the front sections of Lopez’s hair loose to frame her face and add to the “done, but not done” vibes of the twist.

The final result was soft and romantic, especially when paired with flushed pink cheeks, shimmery eye shadow, and long, fluttery lashes via makeup artist Mary Phillips. This is what I think I look like when I’m enjoying an Aperol spritz outdoors on a sunny summer day! It’s a French twist, but the kind you can easily whip up with a few pins or a clip instead of spending hours in front of the mirror.
While Lopez is synonymous with the slicked-back bun, she does love a good messy moment. We’ve seen her in similar undone twists in the past, like the Pamela Anderson-esque look she wore to a Delola event in summer 2023, which appeared to be held up with a strong pin and a prayer, and the super loose, casually sexy style she paired with Intimissimi lingerie for a photoshoot.
